Holy Olli!

The flame-bohs managed to squeak out a victory last night against the second worst team in the league. Queue the Wiserhood slow-clap for the boys in red.

One interesting game note was Olli Jokinen's tussle with the 4 ft 3" Sam Gagner in what can only be called, a draw. Who told this guy he was allowed to fight people?

In real game notes, tough-guy Jokinen managed to get 4 shots on net (3rd highest shots total this year), 5 PIM, and a -1 rating. What does a coach have to do to get this guy playing up to his SouthEast division potential? Oh yeah, send him back to the SouthEast division. No goals in 9 games, 220th in the league in points scored, and 319th in shot percentage. Maybe a bottle of Wiser's before the game would help this f-lame get his game together, and quick.

Here's hoping he fights McIntyre next time the Oil are in town, and gets the Ivanans one-two punch. Too bad they don't play the Oilers again until March 2011.

Tomorrow our office partakes in the annual pumpkin carving contest for knife-wielding supremacy. There's actually a theme for this year: Pop Culture/Current Events.

A couple of us have brainstormed that an Antoine Dodson theme would win us over with the likes of the creative team and younger voters, but how to do it, and make it seem authentic?

Red bandana, dreadlocks, and a small moustache seem like a good start but should we incorporate the hit iTunes single "Bed Intruder Song" into the overall layout and design?

Looking around for images of Mr. Dodson on the weeb, I came across some rather odd ones of him shopping and experiencing life as a pseudo-celeb. What happened to Lincoln Park holmies for life? I wonder how fast his money will last?

Rise Up???

Lebron James is a real piece of work.

Leading up to last night's NBA opener, he had the audacity to release his little Wieden & Kennedy piece, Rise Up (below) letting Cleveland and any other haters out there know, he could care less what you think about him.

Although it's fact that you can do and say whatever the hell you feel like when you're making $110 million over the next 6 years, it doesn't mean you have to be ballsy enough to actually spout off in a national ad. As Key and the ESPN MNF panel would say, "C'mon Mannnn".


Lebron isn't making any friends in the NBA, and had better hope that his skill and fame can carry him through the next few years. Not that it can't, but I'm sure there are more than a few journalists and bloggers out there waiting for the fall of the self proclaimed King, so that they can rip him a new one all over again. July was nothing, compared to the hard drives and memory sticks loaded with Lebron bashing prose the sports world has simmering on the back burner.

Best of luck this year 'bron,'bron. Let's hope the "talents" you've brought to South Beach really are that, and not just a mess of publicity stunts and mediocre play that define so many other hot shot NBA stars.
